Emily experienced the wonderful benefits of Placenta Encapsulation after the birth of her second daughter Penelope. Read Emily’s story on our About Us page.

What is Placenta Encapsulation and what are the benefits?

“Placenta encapsulation” is an ancient practice that has been revived by the progressive birth community in the United States in recent years. The placenta is carefully prepared within the first 72 hours following the birth. First it is cleaned and steamed. Then it is dehydrated overnight before grinding it and putting it in capsules. In the weeks immediately following childbirth, the mother takes the placenta pills on a daily basis to regulate her hormones and to return important nutrients to her body.

The benefits of placenta encapsulation include:

Decrease in baby blues and postpartum depression.
Increase and enrich breastmilk.
Increase in energy.
Decrease in lochia, postpartum bleeding.
Decrease iron deficiency.
Decrease insomnia or sleep disorders.
Decreases postpartum “night sweats”.

Emily also provides a placenta print on canvas for you. When you view the fetal side of the placenta it looks like the branches of a tree. It’s often referred to as the “tree of life” and it makes for a beautiful print.
