Sara Garside-Doula

Sara (she/her) is a DONA trained Birth and Postpartum Doula serving clients throughout the Pittsburgh, PA, Steubenville, OH, and Weirton, WV areas. She also teaches independent childbirth classes, and was formerly certified in Bradley Childbirth Education. Sara has been a childbirth educator since 2012, and started attending births as a doula in 2015. In her spare time, Sara is on the board of local non-profit City of Bridges Run Club, where her experience as a birth doula has helped her coach people at all points in their running careers.

Sara was drawn to birth work during her preparation for the birth of her first child, Elias, in 2008. Her degree in biology and training in education led her to seek all available education regarding pregnancy and birth. Elias's birth was far from ideal, but education and support helped Sara feel empowered throughout the process. The fire had been lit. After the birth of her second child, Samuel, in 2011, Sara's childbirth teacher retired, and it felt natural for Sara to fill that gap.

Birth can take many routes, and Sara's goal is for every client and their growing family to feel educated, supported, and safe. Whether that birth is at home, a birth center, or the hospital. Whether that birth is a scheduled cesarean or intervention free.
