Some families would love the benefit of having doula for support throughout their pregnancies but either are outside of the service area, they have financial restrictions or they'd just prefer to not have in person support during the birth.   We now offer Virtual Doula Services so you have support during pregnancy and have the advantage of phone/text support during the birth if needed.  Also during the COVID-19 pandemic not all facilities are allowing for more than one support person.

Virtual Doula Support Includes:

​

Email/text/phone support.  During pregnancy texts/calls from 8:00 am through 9:00 pm.  During labor texts/calls are available 24/7.

​

Access to our pregnancy/postpartum resource lists.

​

Scheduled Skype/Facetime meetings or phone calls (1/2 hour) once a month to cover any of your needs.

​

One in person meeting during the third trimester to discuss your birth plan/comfort measures for birth.  As of 4/1/2020 these meetings will be done virtually or in person (with masks) until the threat of COVID-19 passes.

​

A goodie bag of tools for use during your birthing time.  Some of the items in this bag will be returned to Blessed Arrivals and some are for you to keep.

​

You may call/text/FaceTime during the birthing time with questions about labor, comfort measures or informational support.  This support may be continuous but for many families may be frequent check-ins instead of continuous support.  Many families have found that knowing they can call anytime bolsters their confidence to not be on with us continuously.  

​

If you decide during the birthing time that you would benefit from in person support you are able to then pay the difference between the virtual services and full birth doula support and the doula (or a backup) will attend your birth.  During the COVID-19 crisis this is unfortunately only an option at The Midwife Center or with Home Births being attended by a Home Birth Midwife.

If you desire a conversation during your pregnancy with a doula (and you're not a contracted client) for informational support we do offer an A la Carte option for $25/hour.  Those desiring this often have questions about their birth plan/comfort measures, have questions about an induction or cesarean and what to expect or need access to resources.  Those services are provided by phone/Skype/Facetime or in person.
